Graduation Ceremony of the 4th and 5th Batches of the Specialised Diploma Programme in Legal Skills

On 10 December 2011, the Institute of Law (IoL) at Birzeit University organised a graduation ceremony for students of the Specialised Diploma Programme in Legal Skills. Initiated by the IoL, the Diploma Programme is designed to build capacities and qualify legal practitioners in the legal profession and to support and consolidate the legal environment in Palestine. In his speech, Dr. Ghassan Faramand, IoL Director, underlined the significance of professional legal education and the prospects of cooperation and between the IoL and Palestinian Bar Association (PBA) and legal and judicial bodies in various area, including lawyer training. Dr. Faramand also expressed IoL’s thanks to all trainers, including judges, lawyers and academics, who contributed to making the Diploma Programme a success.

Mr. Ahmed Qandeel, PBA representative, underscored the importance of concerted efforts and consolidated coordination between the IoL and PBA. On behalf of graduates, Mr. Muhannad Suwwan extended graduates’ thanks and gratitude to the IoL Management and Birzeit University for offering this professional Diploma Programme.

As trainer of the Land Law course on the Diploma Programme, Mr. Sabbah Sabbah gave prominence to this Diploma Programme as is offers practical training experience to law graduates. Mr. Sabbah further commended trainees’ cooperation with trainers as well as their serious, informed debate, research activity and studies.

At the end of the ceremony, certificates were conferred to all 25 graduates, including trainee and practicing lawyers and legal practitioners from across the West Bank.
The graduation ceremony brought together law students, graduates’ family members, PBA representatives, and IoL staff.
