Trial Procedures before the Corruption Crimes Court
Birzeit: On Friday, 7 September 2013, the Institute of Law (IoL) at Birzeit University organised a training workshop on Trial Procedures before the Corruption Crimes Court and Other Degrees of Litigation. The training is a component of the Anti-Corruption Capacity Building Assistance in Palestine Project,
implemented in partnership and cooperation between the IoL and Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission, High Judicial Council and Public Prosecution. The project is designed to support Palestinian anti-corruption actors and provide capacity building to relevant staff. A total of 15 Anti-Corruption Prosecution team members took part in the training activity.
Advocate Mu’een al Barghouthi, representative of the IoL, stated that this training exercise would build on a specialised training programme targeting members of the Public Prosecution. It was designed to enhance Public Prosecution staff’s skills in anti-corruption cases. The workshop addressed several training topics, including an introduction to procedure laws, particularly the Law of Penal Procedures and Anti-Corruption Law, as well as trial and retrial procedures before the Corruption Crimes Court, Courts of Conciliation, and Courts of First Instance. The training also covered problems associated with enforcement of relevant court decisions.
